A landmark in Barangay Patar, Bolinao, Pangasinan is frequented by tourists for a brief visit--the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse. The century-old lighthouse is said to be the second tallest in the country and one of the five major lighthouses in the Philippines.
We learned from the local resident traveling with us that the tower is closed and climbing the winding stairway is no longer allowed. But the viewing deck in front of the lighthouse offered us a breathtaking view of the blue South China Sea, the white beaches, and green meadows.
Lighthouses like this are meant to guide sea vessels, especially at night, to avert tragedies at sea. I remember what Jesus Christ told His disciples: "I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Whether it's a ship, a boat, or a family on tour, all need a guiding light as they travel in this life.
The light house in Bolinao is an asset of this place. You can see the overlooking view once you came near the light house. Hope to go back their again!
