There are 7,107 islands in the Philippines and 123 of these can be found in the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos, Pangasinan. The Hundred Islands, scattered in the Lingayen Gulf, is said to be the first national park of the Philippines and is a popular tourist spot of the province. Of the 123 islands, only three are developed for tourism, namely Quezon, Governor, and Children's Islands. But there are also other interesting islands in the park with white sand beaches and clear, turquoise waters. I find Marcos Island particularly beautiful. Other islands have also been the location sites of some popular teleserye.
Our family had an enjoyable time island hopping and swimming at Hundred Islands. The numerous islands scattered on the blue sea is an astonishing sight far different from skyscrapers city people are accustomed to. However, it's disappointing to see tourists carelessly disregard the island's rules on cleanliness. When we were at Governor Island, we saw a group of tourists eating at the beach front, right in front of the sign that says "No eating at the beach front". Someone even washed his cup at the seashore! I wish we could all help preserve the beauty of the islands by cooperating with the local government which maintains the park and by conscientiously making sure we don't leave our litter around.
God gives us the seas and the islands so we can enjoy them. Their natural beauty refreshes us and gives us reason to praise its Creator. One verse says it explicitly: "Let them give glory to the Lord and proclaim His praise in the islands" (Isaiah 42:12). You will experience this, happily, at Hundred Islands.

Can't recall why I wasn't able to join you last May. Mommy told me that some resorts and islands are not well maintained but overall, the sights in your photos seem attractive. I also saw and read your Bolinao article. Been there once but I wasn't able to go and see the places you visited. I should schedule a trip there soon, in one of the long weekends this August perhaps.
ReplyDeleteYes, try to visit Bolinao. It's a long trip though, to the beaches but worth it.
