Dried Fish and Sea Foods from Cebu

Aside from dried mangoes, otap, and guitars, another popular pasalubong from Cebu is dried fish. And the place to go to if you want to buy these dried fish is at Cebu's Taboan Public Market. Perhaps the most popular among these dried fish is the danggit, a small fish variety, but there are other dried sea foods as well, like squid and small shrimps. You can also find in the market what they call the fish tocino, fish fillets that are flattened, shaped into circles, and sweetened. There are also oysters sold in bottles.

Cebu is an island and its waters are teeming with fish and other sea foods. Proof of this abundance are the crates and crates of dried fish and sea foods. Don't fail to buy your pasalubong from Taboan next time you're in Cebu, but be quick to change clothes afterwards because the fishy smell is sure to stick to your garment.

You made him ruler over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. O LORD, our LORD, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:6-9
